Ms. Anderson: Media Specialist

I began teaching in the media center at Lordship in 2004 and am thrilled to be the school library media specialist.

I grew up on a sheep farm outside a small town in Minnesota and received my BA in History from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.  I moved east after graduation, first to Manhattan, then later settling in Fairfield.  After working in finance for eight years, I was fortunate to be able to take several years off to raise my children.  During this time, I received my Masters degree in Library Science from Southern Connecticut State University.  I also have completed a Sixth Year degree in Educational Technology from Augustana University.

My goal is to help students get excited about books.  By the time each student leaves Lordship, I hope she or he will have found at least one book to truly love.  I thoroughly enjoy discussing literature with children and introducing them to books and authors they might not have discovered on their own.  I also work with the teachers to plan projects and research units.  Past collaborative projects have included creating alphabet books with kindergarten classes, studying ocean animals with third graders, creating PowerPoint presentations about space with fifth graders and creating an Egyptian museum with sixth graders.

I live in Milford with my husband Dave, and have two children, Daniel and Elizabeth.  I enjoy volunteering at a soup kitchen in Bridgeport, reading children’s literature, traveling and spending time with my family.
